For this new program freshly recorded, Scherzi Musicali explores the exciting world of Alessandro Scarlatti’s cantatas preserved in various Neapolitan manuscripts: the six cantatas retained here, unpublished for the most part, sublimate the affects of nymphs and shepherds separated from their beloved.
Both the arias and the recits are of all beauty, variated and colourful: the theatricatly of these cantatas inspired, as much to soprano Deborah Cachet and to baritone Nicolas Achten as the instrumental abounding that envelops them, a passioned and captivating realisation, dominated by poetry, rhetoric, inventive ornamentation and sonore opulence.
